My Story

Hi, my name is Matthew Murdock, and I created CNY Christian News in obedience to the will of God. Our communities are suffering in many ways, and never has there been a more urgent time to bring God’s love, truth, and desire for unity into our midst.

I first came to Jesus at a Billy Graham crusade when I was 18 years old. My family dragged me to it while I did some kicking and screaming. The crusade marveled me. I never saw anything like that in my entire life. Here was a man who boldly told God’s truth. The crusade planted a seed, which did not sprout until several years later, during a baptism in the holy spirit. As I read the Bible from a philosophy class one day at college: the words jumped off the pages and I realized that what I was reading was everlasting truth: words of spirit and life poured through my entire being.

I have a bachelor’s degree is in journalism from Buffalo State College. After graduating, I worked at a couple of newspapers in upstate NY, covering all areas of news. As I raised a family, the decision I made was to leave my profession and focus more on my family, and devoted time as well to helping with my father’s title search business. Then I served in various sales, service, and managerial capacities, and eventually came back to the newspaper industry, obtaining a position as a newspaper circulation district manager, where I worked for 10 years with the Daily Gazette and Times Union newspapers in the capital district of New York State.

I am excited to see what God has in store for this local Christian news ministry. I'm quite sure you have all read about the trials and tribulations that community news has gone through in recent years. I am here to say that local, niche news is very much alive. And this news will have even more power because God will fill it with his holy-spirit-fuel.

My hometown is Baldwinsville, and the church I go to is Encounter Christian Fellowship in Syracuse.

I completed my Master's in Online Ministry at Regent University in December.

It is a pleasure to be of service to you!
